  1. Love this! Very educational and would love more diet review videos. It’ll help keep everyone informed and debunk a lot of those myths. Safe to say I will probably never do the keto diet, I love pasta too much 😂😋

  2. I started keto wanting to lose weight as fast as I could. Well.. I didn't lose weight as fast as I could. I'm also no longer on strict keto, but I have stopped taking anything with refined sugar and taking minimal carbs. I'm currently losing weight slowly and I've lost my mental fog.

    Go keto.

  3. the risk portion is all bullshit. You say that you can't determine the benefits because of lack of research but can point to harms like there is research when there isn't. All the studies are garbage surveys. You are a doctor and don't even know that LDL isn't bad. Stop making youtube videos and do some research yourself.

  4. The problem that the keto diet presents to society is most people don't do enough research to do things properly, and if this diet is not done properly, it has negative consequences for your health.

My housemate tried the keto diet and substituted carbs for more red meat (beef and pork), eggs, and cheese to make up the calories. Lo and behold, his doctor told him his blood pressure and cholesterol is the worst it has ever been.

My advice – don't look for a diet. Change your lifestyle and live healthy 24/7.

  5. Since when do we not need any carbs? They are essential to brain health. Though I am not yet a medical professional, from my studies thus far, this is the first I’ve heard of humans not needing to consume any carbohydrates to survive.
The keto diet (IMO) is very extreme and if attempted, it should be done with care.

Thank you for your professional advice Dr. Mike! Very informative, as always.

  6. 4 years on keto – never felt healthier or skinnier, and will never ever stop it!
It's definitely possible to stick with it long term 🙂
My health issues have been in remission since the day I started. That's HUGE. No more pain, fatigue, brain fog, insomnia, etc etc.
I don't care if other people are eating carbs around me, like I've never cared if the guy opposite me ordered a burger when I'm waiting for what I ordered. Yes it's hard in the beginning (carbs really are addictive!) but then when I started feeling amazing I saw carbs as a poison to me. The only time I'm tempted by carbs is after I've eaten carbs… the addiction comes back quick! So I just never have 'treats' anymore. No need 😀
I've seen your video testing out keto – well done 🙂 I like that you've presented this all in a fairly balanced way, and you've obviously done some research unlike others who poo-poo the whole idea without any understanding of it! (like those stupid articles that keep coming out – telling us how bad keto is, but if you look up the study it wasn't keto at all just moderate carb and cheap nasty fats and they were just asking people to remember what they'd eaten not even tracking as they go… ugh).
I suspect the long term studies on true keto will show amazing results 🙂

  7. Keto is an option for desperate, unhealthy cohorts. Otherwise heathy folks would do well to avoid this extreme protocol. There are proven healthy alternatives that include all food groups such as contained in the Mediterranean Diet, et al.

BTW, there are virtually no longitudinal studies on the safety or general efficacy of Keto diets.

  8. Hi Mike! Love your videos! I think medicine is so interesting, but I wouldn't be able to study for so long xd Hey I have a question, does the Keto diet works for adults with epilepsy or just kids? ps: your dog is so beautiful

  9. I love the fact that if something out of script happens like bear coming in on to the filming space or something he doesn't interrupt his speech but at the same time adds these clips at the end and I just love his cute moments <3

  10. Everyone I know who have done keto diets have gained really bad allergic reactions to food that they werent allergic to before.

My friend cant eat peanuts anymore after doing keto for a year, peanuts give him really bad allergic reactions.
